Woman arrested for stealing jewellery worth lakhs from bank locker, husband absconding

Ghaziabad: Police has arrested a woman who stole gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from a Bank of Baroda locker in Ghaziabad’s Modinagar police station area. Her husband is still absconding and is being searched for.

In fact, a woman named Isha Goyal had lodged a complaint in Modinagar police station recently that gold jewellery and silver worth lakhs of rupees kept in her locker in Bank of Baroda branch are missing. To uncover this incident, the police formed a team and investigated the CCTV installed in the bank. In this case, the police was also interrogating other locker holders around Isha Goyal’s locker.

During this time, the police suspected a woman and when strictly interrogated, she told that she along with her husband had committed this crime.

The woman told that she also has a locker in the bank, which is operated by her husband and she. On the day of the incident, when he reached the bank to operate his locker, he saw that the lock of the nearby locker was open. When he opened the locker, he saw gold and silver jewellery inside it. Seeing this, his mind was filled with greed. After this, both husband and wife took out the gold and silver jewellery.

The police said that both were trying to sell the gold and silver jewellery. But, the accused woman has been arrested. At the same time, her husband is said to be absconding, efforts are being made to arrest him. The police say that the absconding accused will be arrested soon.
