With 43.8 degrees Celsius, Bhubaneswar remains hottest in India

Bhubaneswar: State capital Bhubaneswar on Monday found itself on top of the heat map of the country. The city, which recorded the highest maximum temperature this summer, became the hottest city in the country along with Cuddapah in Andhra Pradesh, where both recorded a maximum of 43.8 degrees Celsius.

Bhubaneswar was boiling since morning with the temperature reaching 34.4 degrees Celsius at 8.30 am, 39.8 degrees at 11.30 am and 43.8 degrees in the afternoon. However, citizens got a big relief in the form of low humidity levels, which stood at around 22 percent. IMD said the temperature in the capital city may remain around 41 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

Heat wave also occurred in Khurda, Kendrapara, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur districts. Temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or more were recorded at about 17 places. The maximum temperature in Cuttack was 40.2 degrees. So far this month, 10 heatwave days have been recorded in the state. Last year in April there was heat wave for a total of five days.
The Odisha government on Monday said that so far 89 people have been affected by heat-related illnesses. The incidents have been reported from 16 districts, with Sundergarh recording the highest number of 41 cases, followed by Khurda with 12, Angul with nine, Mayurbhanj and Jharsuguda with seven each and Sambalpur with five.

The weather office said there is no heat wave warning for Odisha for the next two days, but due to north-westerly/westerly dry wind and high solar insolation, maximum temperatures may exceed 40 degrees or more at some places in the state during this period. There is a possibility of staying. ,
A fresh wave of heat wave is expected to hit Odisha on Thursday and the weather office has issued a warning for one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and Sundergarh districts. Meanwhile, light rain and thundershowers/lightning are likely over parts of the state on Tuesday and Wednesday.
