Tamil Nadu: Police are searching for the husband and father-in-law of a woman who murdered his wife and sister-in-law and fled after a family dispute near Bodi on Thursday.
Nikhila (25), daughter of Nagaraj, is a resident of Chinnamanur Sokkanathapuram in Theni district. She and Pradeep (27), son of Shivakumar from Muthaiyanchettipatti near Bodi, were married three months ago. They lived in Muthaiyanchettipatti.
Nikhila is a graduate. Pradeep, without having studied law, posed as a lawyer and deceived her into marriage.
Seven cases are pending against Pradeep at the Bodi Taluk Police Station. This led to a rift between the couple. Nikhila was subsequently living at her mother’s house.
Meanwhile, last week, relatives reconciled the two. Nikhila then moved to Muthaiyanchettipatti and began living with Pradeep. Then, they quarreled again. Nikhila was injured in Pradeep’s attack and was admitted to the Chinnamanur Government Hospital.
In this situation, Nikhila filed a complaint at the Bodi Taluk Police Station, alleging that Pradeep was harassing her by demanding dowry. Police were investigating the matter.
In this situation, on Thursday, both parties negotiated and decided to return the gold jewelry and other items given to Nikhila at her wedding.
Nikhila, her brother Vivek (33), and relatives went to Muthayyanchettipatti to collect the items. There, a fight broke out again between the two parties.
Then, Pradeep stabbed Vivek to death with a knife. Nikhila fainted upon seeing this, and Pradeep stabbed her with a sickle as well.
Later, Pradeep fled with his father, Shivakumar.
Upon receiving information about this, Chinnamanur police went to the scene, recovered the bodies of both, and sent them to Theni K.V. Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
Additionally, police have registered a case against Pradeep, his father Shivakumar, his mother Muthulakshmi, and Satodhari Inparathi, who fled the scene, and have formed a special team to search for them.
Theni District Superintendent of Police P. Sneha Priya visited the scene and conducted an investigation.
