Why delay in justice to wrestlers: Sachin Pilot

New Delhi (IANS) | Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot met the protesting wrestlers at Jantar Mantar on Friday and questioned the delay in getting justice to those who made the country proud. Pilot reached Jantar Mantar and had a long conversation with the wrestlers. Talking to the media after meeting the protesting wrestlers, Pilot said, ‘For the last 26 days our wrestlers are sitting on a dharna to share their pain. Everyone supports him, but the justice he should have got is being delayed.

Hitting out at the government, Pilot said, “Why is there delay in doing justice to those who have made us proud?” Administration and police should act fast.

He said that the country cannot prosper if the youth, farmers and wrestlers are not happy.

He demanded, the pain and issues of the wrestlers need to be heard and addressed and the government and administration should act swiftly on the complaints of the protesting wrestlers and justice should be given.

He also told that many people are coming here to support the wrestlers, but it is sad that despite sitting here for many days, the wrestlers are yet to get justice.

Action should be taken on their complaint so that the wrestlers are assured of action, the Congress leader said.

To another question about WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s remark that medals can be bought for Rs 15, Pilot said, “The wrestlers have been protesting for the last 26 days and if they get justice on time, they would have to do so.” There was no need. They are sitting here in such heat as no action has been taken.

Wrestlers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for 26 days and have accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.
