When Samantha found it difficult to get clothes from the designers

Mumbai (IANS) | Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu recalled how she and her colleagues in South India were insulted over their clothes. In an interview, the 35-year-old actress spoke about how regional films made in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada have overtaken Hindi cinema at the box-office in recent years.

Samantha said: This is absolutely wonderful. There was a time when we couldn’t buy clothes from artist designers from the South because they used to say, ‘Who are you? Southern artist? What South?’

Samantha’s upcoming film ‘Shakuntalam’ has over 3,000 costumes for the cast, supporting cast and junior cast, created by designer Neeta Lulla. Samantha said, we’ve come a long way from there, haven’t we? This inclusion is amazing, and now we are finally where we need to be.

In the last two years, several films like ‘RRR’, ‘KGF’, ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘Kantara’ have given tough competition to Hindi cinema at the box-office.
