According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon is likely to become active again in the state starting July 27. The department forecasts good rainfall across most parts of both Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh. Along with this, incidents of thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning strikes may also occur. The department has urged people to remain alert regarding the weather and take necessary precautions during adverse conditions.
Meteorologists note that rainfall activity had weakened in several parts of the state over the past few days, leading to increased humidity and heat. However, the monsoon is now reviving due to a weather system forming over the Bay of Bengal and adjacent regions. Consequently, widespread rainfall is expected across most districts of the state in the coming days.
According to the Meteorological Department, scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity may be observed in various parts of the state on Sunday and Monday. However, the monsoon will become fully active from Tuesday, and the scope of rainfall will expand rapidly. Moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in several districts during this period.
On July 27, rain and thundershowers are predicted for many locations in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, while rainfall is also expected in some districts of Western Uttar Pradesh. The department states that strong winds and lightning strikes may occur in isolated areas during this time.
Weather activity is likely to intensify further on July 28. The department forecasts rain, thunderstorms, and heavy showers across almost all districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, with good rainfall also expected in many parts of Western Uttar Pradesh. Meteorologists warn that continuous rainfall in several areas could lead to waterlogging.
The Meteorological Department has termed this rainfall beneficial for farmers. It is expected to prove advantageous for crops such as paddy, maize, sugarcane, and other Kharif crops. Farmers, who have been awaiting adequate rainfall for a long time, are expected to find relief from this spell. However, in areas receiving heavy rainfall, crops could suffer damage due to waterlogging in the fields. Therefore, farmers are advised to make proper arrangements for draining water from their fields.
Experts have warned that the rainfall may be accompanied by an increase in lightning strikes. Consequently, people should avoid standing in open fields, under trees, or near electricity poles. It is also advised to avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather and to follow the guidelines issued by the Meteorological Department.
Weather changes are expected over the next two to three days in the capital, Lucknow, as well as in Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Basti, Gonda, Bareilly, Meerut, Agra, Aligarh, and surrounding districts. Skies will remain cloudy in many places, with the likelihood of intermittent heavy rain.
Temperatures are also expected to drop as rainfall activity picks up. This will bring relief to people who have been troubled by humidity and heat over the past few days. Meteorologists predict a decline of two to four degrees Celsius in maximum and minimum temperatures, making the weather pleasant.
