WB: Before voting, Mamta Banerjee announced to give 16 lakh extra

West Bengal: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has started giving ‘Banglar Badi’ in the housing scheme. She handed over the first installment of housing to 42 consumers at a ceremony held at Navanna Sabha Ghar on Tuesday. She also announced that housing will be paid to another 1.6 million consumers before the 2026 elections. Mamata knows that consumers will get this money in two phases. West Bengal Assembly elections may be held in March-April-May Mamata Banerjee has told that housing politics is her biggest weapon to return to power for the fourth time in West Bengal. She said that the government has not given money to the state for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana but the state government has given money on its own initiative.

The amount will be sent to the accounts of 12 lakh marginal people of the state from Tuesday. Recently the Panchayat office received a request from the Chief Minister to start this facility. The Chief Minister collected the amount from 42 consumers of 21 districts on Tuesday.

A consumer will get Rs 60,000 in the first installment out of a total of Rs 120,000. However, consumers in other remote areas including some areas of Jungle Palace will get Rs 130,000. Earlier, each district administration had done all the necessary work to send the money directly to the bank accounts of consumers. The Chief Minister has started sending money to the bank accounts of consumers after the inauguration of the project. Panchayat office sources said that a total of Rs 6,500 crore has been sent to the districts to pay the developers of the Banglar Bari project. A source said that the money will be sent to the bank accounts of consumers in the next few days. Each consumer has also been given a tax certificate.
