Barpeta | Improvement was seen in the flood situation in Assam. The water level of Brahmaputra and its tributaries has receded at various places and now these rivers are not flowing above the danger mark anywhere. While preparations are on in full swing to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha elsewhere, thousands of people in Assam’s flood-hit Barpeta district are worried.
People of Barpeta district are facing lot of problems due to flood in Assam. The situation remains grim in Assam’s Barpeta district with hundreds of people displaced due to flood situation. Over 67,000 people in 93 villages of Barpeta district are affected.
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) report, 225 hectares of crop land is currently submerged in Barpeta district. Three children died due to drowning in flood waters in the district in the last 48 hours, taking the death toll in the state to six.
