Water flow into Mettur dam increased: Delta farmers happy

Tamil Nadu : Farmers in the delta are happy as the water level of Mettur dam is continuously rising and reached 113 feet on Wednesday morning (June 4).
The catchment areas of the Cauvery river and its tributaries Palaru, Chinnar and Thoppai Yaru are receiving rains.
Due to the rains, the inflow of water into the Mettur dam has increased. The inflow of water into the Mettur dam was 3,017 cubic feet per second on Tuesday morning, which increased to 5,908 cubic feet per second in the evening. In this situation, the amount of water entering the Mettur dam increased to 6,234 cubic feet per second on Wednesday.
Water is being released from the dam at the rate of 1000 cubic feet per second for irrigation in the Cauvery delta. The water level in the dam is continuously rising as the amount of water coming into the dam is more than the amount of water being released from the dam for irrigation. As a result, the water level of the dam has increased from 112.71 feet to 113 feet. The water storage of the dam is 82.74 TMC. Farmers of the Cauvery delta are happy with the increase in the water level of the Mettur dam.
