Nainital: Even before the onset of summer in Haldwani, shortage of water and electricity has started at many places. Due to non-availability of electricity and water, not only people’s work is getting affected but people have to leave their essential work and spend half the day arranging water. 1500 families faced drinking water shortage on Monday due to stoppage of operation of GGIC’s tube well pump. At the same time, the repair work of the tube well of the forest post is also going on for the last five days.
Water was supplied through nine tankers by Jal Sansthan to the residents of Forest Outpost Damuwadhunga, Loharia Malla, Bajunia Haldu, Sai Mandir Himmatpur Malla and GGIC area, who were facing water shortage. Here, Jal Sansthan officials say that the repair work of the tube well is going on at a fast pace. Soon the supply will be restored to the affected areas.
Electricity failure in Unchapul and Panchayat Ghar
Due to canal covering work in Unchapul, a population of five thousand had to worry about electricity from 9 am to 6 pm on Monday. On the other hand, power supply from Belbaba Fitter adjacent to Transport Nagar was also affected on Monday due to line shifting work in Rampur Road and Panchayat Ghar area from 11 am to 5 pm. DD Pangati, Executive Engineer, Electricity Distribution Division, Rural, said that line shifting and road widening work is being done in various areas, due to which the supply was stopped by issuing roster. He said the supply was restored in the evening.
