Ward boy molested a woman in a government hospital, targeted her while she was sleeping

Kolkata: Another case of molestation of a woman has come to light in a government hospital in Kolkata. A health worker has been accused of molesting a 26-year-old woman. According to a report by India Today, the incident happened when she was sleeping in the hospital where her child was admitted for treatment. The woman said in her complaint, ‘I was sleeping in the children’s ward of Kolkata’s Institute of Child Health (ICH). My son was admitted here.’ The accused has been identified as 26-year-old Tanay Pal, who works as a ward boy in the hospital.

According to the report, Tanay Pal came to the children’s ward and started touching the woman inappropriately. He also tried to undress her. The accused recorded the incident on his mobile. On receiving a complaint about the incident, Kolkata Police arrested the accused. An FIR has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police officials seized Pal’s mobile and sent it for forensic examination. Shortly after this, the accused was produced in a local court, which sent him to police custody.

This incident has come to light at a time when there is an uproar over the rape-murder case in Kolkata’s RG Kar College and Hospital. The body of a trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of the hospital on the morning of August 9. It is alleged that she was raped and then murdered. The main accused Sanjay Roy was arrested a day after the incident. Talking about the latest developments, the CBI produced former principal of the medical institute Sandip Ghosh and Tala police station in-charge Abhijit Mandal in the court on Sunday. The investigating agency had added charges of tampering with evidence against Ghosh in this case. Ghosh is currently in judicial custody in the corruption case. CBI has also arrested Mandal.
