9 Family Members, Including 4 Children, Killed as Car Hits Travel Bus, Fire Ensues

Bengaluru: A car that went out of control hit a travel bus. As a result, both the vehicles caught fire and were burnt. 9 people of the same family who were travelling in the car died. Four of the deceased were children. The incident took place in Karnataka’s Yadgir district. A serious road accident took place near Shantapur Cross in Surapur taluka on Friday afternoon. The tire of the car in which a family was travelling burst. The car that went out of control hit a private travel bus coming from the opposite direction. Immediately, the fire broke out. The car and the travel bus were completely burnt.

Meanwhile, nine out of ten members of the same family who were travelling in the car died. Four, including two children who were trapped in the car, were burnt alive. The deceased have been identified as Krishna Nayak (52), his wife Anantha Kala (45), Sharanappa (36), his wife Nisarga (30), their children Siddhartha (3), Advik (5), Srinidhi (1.5), Sasikala (30) and her son Chandan (8), police said. Sasikala’s other son Virat (10) was the only survivor, they said. The injured boy has been shifted to the hospital and is undergoing treatment.

On the other hand, the car passengers are from Sirwar taluka in Raichur district, a police officer said. They were travelling from Yadgir to their hometown in Raichur when the accident took place.

However, a police officer said that the private travel bus was travelling from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi. He said that the 20 passengers in the bus were safe and they were rescued in time. He revealed that an investigation is underway into the accident. Meanwhile, video clips of the car and the bus being burnt in the fire have gone viral on social media.
