Gurugram (IANS) | Gurugram police arrested a criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 after an encounter in the early hours of Monday. The arrested person has been identified as Yogendra alias Rinku (36).
According to the police, he was the main accused involved in the attack on the family of a former sarpanch in Kasan village on November 4, 2021. Four people were killed in the attack, while two were injured.
The Gurugram police had declared a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest.
After the Kasan incident, the accused were hiding in Jharkhand and Rajasthan.
With the arrest of the main accused, the police have so far arrested 18 people, including 3 minors, in this case.
The accused told the police that in November 2021, he along with his attackers fired more than 40 bullets at the Sarpanch’s family.
Police said Yogendra allegedly committed the crime to avenge the murder of his brother Manoj, who was killed by a member of the victim’s family on the occasion of Holi in 2007.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Preetpal Sangwan said that the accused was involved in eight incidents including murder, attempt to murder, attack on police team and was continuously active in carrying out serious incidents.
An I-20 car, a country-made pistol, a pistol and three empty shells have been recovered from his possession.
