Wagner Group, a private army fighting war against Ukraine on behalf of Russia, rebelled

Moscow | Russia has been fighting a continuous war in Crane for the last 16 months. But it has not yielded any result so far. Meanwhile, Putin may lose his grip on Russia’s power. The Wagner Group, a private army fighting the war against Ukraine on behalf of Russia, has rebelled. Putin has accused Wagner Group boss Yevgeny Prigozhin of treason, starting an armed rebellion and backstabbing. Prigozhin, one of Russia’s most important people, says he is marching for justice, not a military coup.

For months Prigozhin played a key role in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. He recruited thousands of people from Russian prisons into his Wagner Group. Prigozhin had long been at loggerheads with the military chiefs, but now the dispute has taken the form of a mutiny. Wagner forces have reportedly crossed into Russia’s large southern city of Rostov-on-Don from occupied eastern Ukraine. The Wagner Group claims that it has taken over military areas here. President Putin says that this is a difficult situation, but he will take every step to protect Russia.
