Vishnudev government is preparing to open Chhattisgarh Institute of Technology

Raipur. Even though more than half of the seats in engineering colleges in Chhattisgarh are vacant, the government is preparing to open new engineering colleges on the lines of IIT. The government is going to open CGIT (Chhattisgarh Institute of Technology) in five Lok Sabha constituencies from the new academic session. Technical Education Secretary S Bharatidasan said in a discussion with ‘Chhattisgarh’ that there are preparations to start CGIT in Raipur, Kawardha, Jagdalpur, Raigarh, and Bastar from the new academic session. Preparations for this are underway.

The Technical Education Department has started action towards opening new government engineering colleges. In its assembly election manifesto, the BJP had promised to open a CGIT in every Lok Sabha constituency on the lines of IIT. A meeting of Technical Education Department officials with CM Vishnudev Sai has also been held on the issue of opening new CGIT. Two engineering colleges will be opened in Raigarh Lok Sabha constituency. One of these can be in Jashpur district. The government plans to start CGIT in all the Lok Sabha constituencies of the state in the next two years. In total, there is a proposal to open 12 CITs in 11 Lok Sabha constituencies.

According to sources, the proposal to open CGIT in five Lok Sabha constituencies has also been approved. Work is also going on at a fast pace to arrange college building and other facilities here. It is being said that in the first phase, CGIT will be started temporarily by taking the building of the polytechnic college of that Lok Sabha constituency. Action will also be taken for admission here in the new academic session i.e. April 2025.

It was told that discussions are going on regarding the appointment of teachers and branches etc. It is being said that teachers will be appointed on a temporary basis. Apart from this, financial approval is being taken to arrange other facilities. Government officials say that CGIT will be developed as a high technical quality institute. However, less interest has been seen among the students towards engineering in the state.
