Gariaband. Today the villagers gathered in protest against the continuous power cuts in Chhura of the district. The villagers created a ruckus. He said that the crops are getting ruined due to the irrigation pumps being shut down due to the electricity workers secretly cutting the jumper in the dark of night. Besides, students appearing for exams are also worried about not being able to study. After the uproar by the villagers, the time for power cut has been fixed. In fact, most of the farmers in the knife distribution center of the district are dependent on electric pumps for the Rabi crop. In such a situation, due to heavy load, the electricity department started unannounced cuts by calling it load shedding. Workers were sent to cut the faces at midnight, after the villagers were asleep.
At around 11 pm on Thursday, three personnel in the vehicle of the electricity department had reached Vijaypur village in Kansinghi feeder to cut the electricity. When there was power failure as soon as the face was down, the youth roaming in the barn area at night noticed the workers. Before the workers could disconnect the electricity and leave, 10 to 15 villagers surrounded them. When people started arriving from nearby villages, the workers left the government vehicles and ran away. The crowd of villagers called the officers of the department. On this, AE Umed Diwan reached the spot in the night itself and somehow pacified the villagers.
The night’s incident spread like wildfire in the affected villages as soon as Friday morning. Apart from Vijaypur, 100 farmers from 8 villages including Deori, Pendra, Seoni gathered near Seoni Agricultural Market. Farmers were planning a strategy to surround the department under the leadership of Meva Nayak, Jairam, Chinta Ram Sinha, Omkar Singh and Ashok Thakur. It is alleged that there was a cut of 6 to 8 hours in this area. Due to this, not only the crops were affected but also the students appearing for the exams were worried. Meanwhile, AE Umed Diwan again reached Seoni and the time for power cut was fixed. Seoni Sarpanch Ashok Thakur said that apart from fixing the time for the cut, the officials agreed to cut power for only 3 hours. Apart from this, the demand for a new feeder was also accepted, after which a compromise has been reached.
