Villagers opposed sand mining, held the truck along with the driver hostage

Mahasamund. Villagers are sitting blocking the road to Mudiyadih sand ghat since Monday morning. They say that the contract of this sand ghat has been given to someone else but a contractor has been extracting sand for the last 10-12 days. Illegal transportation of sand takes place throughout the night. Neither the Panch-Sarpanch has been informed about this nor the Panchayat is getting its royalty.

So, unanimously, the villagers have stopped the sand-laden Hiva vehicles in the village and the empty Hiva vehicles on the way to the river. The machine has also been taken out from inside the river and brought out. Villagers complain that Sirpur police was immediately informed about this. But they reached here at nine o’clock and said that the vehicles will be taken to the police station. But the villagers say that no vehicle will be allowed to be taken from here without the arrival of the officials of the Mineral Department.

The villagers said that Mudiyadih and Pasid village together are one Panchayat. The villagers told that the Haan river flows from here. Therefore, illegal mining and transportation of sand takes place from here every year. This year also, for the past ten to twelve days, a contractor named Pushkar has been extracting sand from the river overnight by installing a chain mountain machine. The work of extracting and transporting sand is completely closed during the day. During transportation at night, fake royalty receipts are also issued but the Panchayat is not aware of this. The villagers decided to block this road from the morning itself and reached the ghat at the scheduled time. At that time, sand was being filled in dozens of vehicles by the chain mountain machine. The villagers united and stopped the sand-filled trucks and empty trucks outside the village and in the river.
