Vile Parle: 88-year-old man dies in hit-and-run incident, police investigate

Maharashtra: 88-year-old Hasmukhbhai Shah, a resident of Vile Parle West, Mumbai, died on March 26th after being the victim of a hit-and-run accident a few days earlier. Police have launched an investigation and are gathering details.

According to reports, Hasmukhbhai Shah was a resident of Swastik Society. On the evening of March 22nd, he left home to buy medicine when a speeding two-wheeler hit him, and the driver fled the scene. Eyewitnesses and the building’s security guard immediately responded, and Shah was rushed to Cooper Hospital.

He was treated at Cooper Hospital from March 22nd to 23rd, but his condition did not improve. He was then transferred to a private hospital, where he died on March 26th.

The victim’s son, 63-year-old Rajesh Shah, a businessman, performed his father’s last rites on March 30 and then contacted the Juhu police to file a complaint. He alleged that the biker did not provide any assistance after the accident or report the incident to the police.

Police stated that they are examining CCTV footage from the area to locate the two-wheeler and identify the accused. They are also collecting statements from nearby witnesses and investigating possible routes in the area to apprehend the accused as soon as possible.

A police officer said, “This is a serious hit-and-run case. We are making every effort to arrest the accused as soon as possible. We also appeal to the public if they witnessed the incident or have any information.”

Local residents have expressed concern about the incident. They said that high-speed two-wheelers and disregard for safety rules are constantly creating dangerous situations on the road. Many believe that road safety measures should be strictly enforced and that strict action should be taken in cases like hit-and-runs.

Hasmukhbhai Shah’s death has deeply shocked the family and community. Rajesh Shah told the media that his father was always calm and helpful, and that his untimely death is an irreparable loss for the family. He expressed hope that the police will deliver swift justice.
