Kolkata (IANS) | A video of Trinamool Congress MLA Madan Mitra threatening to stop the movement of central agencies in West Bengal has gone viral. In the video, he was reportedly addressing a gathering at Kamarhati in North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday evening.
In the video Mitra is saying, whenever officers of the central agency go for an operation, they inform the traffic department of the police so that the roads are kept clear for their easy movement. There will be such a public rally on the way before any such movement by the officials of the central agency in future. Central agency officials will not get traffic clearance for easy movement. This will not apply only to ED or CBI. This will be applicable for all central agencies, be it Army or Navy or RAW.
Reacting to the comment, state BJP leader and Kolkata Municipal Corporation corporator Sajal Ghosh said that such statements should not be paid heed to.
The question, Ghosh said, is when exactly Mitra said that. It seems that it is time after sunset. As such, his comments have no relevance.
Meanwhile, another video has gone viral, in which veteran Trinamool Congress leader Seagate Roy can be seen and heard abusing Shubhendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly.
Shubhendu blamed the Trinamool Congress for the derailment of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express train near Bahanga railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday evening, Roy said at a meeting in Baranagar on Wednesday evening. If I was young, I would have kicked Shubhendu for such comments.
Reacting to Roy’s statement, senior state BJP leader Rahul Sinha said the remark was most unfortunate from a retired physics professor like Roy.
In fact, Trinamool Congress is nothing more than a gutter and one who goes into the gutter gets used to its environment, Sinha said.
