Very sad news from Wayanad! All hope for Himachal’s Vikram Rana is over.

Kerala: After the horrific natural disaster in Wayanad, a very sad news has come to light. The body of 50-year-old engineer Vikram Singh Rana of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, who was missing for the last six days after the disaster, was recovered by rescue teams on Sunday afternoon. As soon as this painful information was received, Vikram Singh Rana’s hopes of returning home safely were completely shattered, due to which a wave of mourning ran in his native area Fatehpur and the entire village. Vikram Singh Rana was a resident of Surela village of Takoli Ghirtha, Panchayat of Fatehpur subdivision under Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. He was working as an engineer in DBL (Dilip Buildcon Limited) company and was posted in Wayanad, Kerala on professional basis. He had gone missing after Wayanad was hit by a sudden horrific natural tragedy (landslide). His mortal remains were finally recovered on Sunday after an intensive search operation that lasted for six days. As soon as this news reached his native village, mourning spread there. A large number of local villagers and relatives are reaching the bereaved family’s house to console them. Soon after the devastation in Wayanad, on July 8, Vikram Singh Rana’s two brothers, Kulwant Singh and Pramod Rana, reached Kerala in view of the gravity of the situation. Both the brothers were in constant touch with the local administration, police and other rescue agencies including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). He himself was keeping an eye on the rescue and search operation every moment. The Kerala government and various rescue teams conducted search operations for six consecutive days in extremely difficult conditions, after which Vikram Singh’s body could be recovered from the debris on Sunday afternoon. After the recovery of the body, necessary legal and medical procedures are being completed by the local administration. Presently the post mortem of the dead body is being conducted. After completing the administrative formalities and paperwork, the mortal remains of Vikram Singh Rana are expected to be brought to his native village Takoli Ghirtha (Surela) by Monday by air or road, where he will be cremated with full state or religious rituals. Even in this very difficult and sad time, the family of Vikram Singh Rana has shown restraint. The victim’s family and their brothers have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Kerala government, the local district administration, the police department and all the rescue teams who were engaged in search operations day and night for working diligently during the disaster. The family says that despite adverse circumstances, the administration and rescue teams left no stone unturned to find their brother. This tragic incident not only extinguished the lamp of a family, but Fatehpur area has also lost one of its promising and hardworking engineers forever. The entire area is currently immersed in deep shock and grief.
