It is known that this year’s Nobel Prize was awarded to Machado. Yesterday, the award ceremony was held in Oslo, the capital of Norway. Machado did not attend the event. As a result, her daughter accepted the Nobel Prize. Within a few hours of the event, Machado came out of hiding and came into the public eye. Machado has been leading the pro-democracy movement in Venezuela for years against the Maduro dictatorship. She has faced threats and arrests, as well as travel bans and political harassment. Despite all this, she has remained in Venezuela and earned the title of Iron Lady. She was banned from running in the 2024 presidential election. Maduro was elected president despite the opposition claiming victory. Machado went into hiding as the government cracked down on the opposition. Machado, who holds a degree in industrial engineering, co-founded a political party called Vente Venezuela in 2013 and serves as its national coordinator.
