Durg. A vendor brutally assaulted a passenger at Durg railway station. After being pushed by his foot in the bag, the victim Kalidas asked the vendor Chandan Sonkar (19) to let him go, on which the vendor beat up the passenger. There was a commotion on the platform during the fight. The team of RPF and GRP somehow pacified the matter and brought both the parties to the GRP police station. The victim Kalidas said that he did not want any action. The police have taken action against the accused vendor under the restrictive section and arrested him for spoiling the atmosphere of the station. According to the information, the incident occurred around 3 pm on Sunday afternoon. When passenger Kalidas Sahu (42), resident of Balaji Nagar Khursipar from Durg, was going towards Puri with his family for a condolence program.
His train was about to arrive at platform number 3. He was standing waiting for the Puri-Ahmedabad train, his bag was also kept nearby. Just then Chandan Sonkar (19), a vendor from Durg station, was leaving from there rapidly. Then Kalidas’s bag was thrown away after hitting the vendor’s feet. He looked at me and asked me to come. Meanwhile the vendor became enraged and a dispute broke out between the two. Seeing the dispute, other vendors also reached there. Then vendor Chandan beat up passenger Kalidas severely. Due to which his head was torn. After getting the information, RPF and GRP teams reached the spot, calmed down the matter and took both of them to the police station. Passenger Kalidas gave it in writing that he did not want any action.
After checking the CCTV footage of the incident in the cameras installed in the station, nothing was visible. It is being told that more than half of the cameras at the station are faulty. Due to this, many times the cameras are of no help to the passengers if some of their belongings get lost. Due to this, the morale of the miscreants is increasing further. It is being told that the family of vendor Chandan Sonkar had assaulted CI Vidya Sagar a few months ago at Durg station itself. An FIR was also lodged in this matter. However, Chandan was not involved in that incident. GRP police station TI Raj Kumar Borjha said that yesterday there was an incident of assault with a passenger waiting for the train going to Puri. But the passenger was in a state of mourning and said he did not want any action. Action has been taken against the accused vendor under the restrictive section for spoiling the environment.
