New Delhi (IANS) | Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia reached the party’s national headquarters on Wednesday and met with the party’s National Organization General Secretary BL Santosh. Although it is being described as a formal meeting, but in view of the preparations for the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections, this meeting of the two leaders is being considered very important. According to sources, considering the stature and political influence of Vasundhara Raje Scindia, the BJP high command, which has made up its mind to contest elections in Rajasthan under collective leadership, may give her a bigger role. Many other options are also being considered, including handing over the command of the election campaign committee to be formed for the assembly elections.
Vasundhara Raje Scindia is currently the national vice-president of the party but she is not ready to give up her claim in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan. On behalf of the Vasundhara group, there is a continuous demand from the high command that the party declares her as its face and contests the elections, while her opponents are talking about contesting the elections under collective leadership.
In a special conversation with IANS, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had recently advocated contesting elections under collective leadership, saying that the party which has the world’s most popular face and most capable leadership should not have faces. Whether or not it doesn’t matter. We have such a strong face of Modi, for whom the people of the country still have such tremendous craze. We will contest the elections in Rajasthan on the face of Prime Minister Modi and it is for the parliamentary board of the party to decide the further course of action. The parliamentary board will decide who will lead Rajasthan.
In this context, today’s meeting is being considered very important.
