Varanasi: Fire broke out in shops near Markandeya Mahadev Temple due to short circuit

UP: Fire broke out due to electrical short circuit in the shops near the railing in front of the main gate of Markandeya Mahadev Temple in Chaubepur, Varanasi district. 10 shops were hit by the fire, due to which the goods of all the shops were burnt to ashes. By the time the fire brigade arrived after receiving information about the fire after midnight, the shops were burnt to ashes.

There are shops on both sides of the railing in front of the main gate of Markandeya Dham. The fire broke out in the shops at around 1 am on Saturday after midnight due to an electrical short circuit. Due to the incident, the puja material, Revdi, Lachi, toys etc. kept in the shop were burnt to ashes. People nearby tried to extinguish the fire by throwing water but failed.
Due to the fire incident, the shops of many people like Rajkumar Yadav, Sunil Yadav, Surjan Yadav, Arjun Yadav, Sahil Ali, Kailash Yadav, Savita Yadav, Subedar Nishad, Sita Devi etc. were burnt to ashes. On receiving information about the incident, Inspector-in-charge Vidya Shankar Shukla reached the spot with his force. Fire brigade vehicle also reached to extinguish the fire, but by then all the stuff was burnt to ashes. It was fortunate that the local people disconnected the electrical connection from the pole. Due to which many shops were saved from destruction.
