Ballia, Uttar Pradesh: A man has been arrested for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a police official said on Saturday. He said that the Ballia police arrested Mohammad Asif on the complaint of a man named Nikhil Gupta of Maniyar town. Asif, also a resident of Maniyar, has been booked under sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC. According to the police, Gupta has alleged in his complaint that Asif called him on June 1, when voting was going on for the Lok Sabha elections in Ballia, and made objectionable remarks against PM Modi and Chief Minister Adityanath. Gupta also alleged that Asif threatened to kill him if he did not obey him. He claimed that Asif allegedly recorded the conversation and posted it on social media. Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Jha said that Asif was arrested on Friday.
