Use these new varieties to increase wheat production

Business Business: As the Rabi season approaches, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has introduced six improved varieties of wheat seeds through its Pusa Institute in New Delhi. The sale of these seeds began on October 3 and will continue till October 9. Farmers from all states can avail these seeds, which are known to mature in about 130 days and yield up to 76 quintals per hectare.

With the Kharif crop harvested and government procurement over, many fields are now vacant, allowing farmers to prepare for Rabi sowing. To aid this effort, Pusa is introducing high-quality wheat seeds, ensuring better productivity for farmers. These seeds are available online, and farmers can order them by registering on the Pusa Seeds portal.

Improved wheat varieties for Rabi season:
Pusa has developed six improved wheat varieties, some of which mature in 130 days, while others take up to 155 days to mature. The yield potential of these varieties is 60 to 76 quintals per hectare, which gives a huge boost to the farmers’ yield during the Rabi season.

How to order improved wheat seeds:

According to a notification from the Uttar Pradesh agriculture department, farmers can register for these seeds on the Pusa Beej portal (https://pusabeej.iari.res.in/register.php). After registration, they can place an online order and get the seeds delivered to their homes. Alternatively, farmers can also visit the Pusa Institute in New Delhi to buy seeds. Apart from wheat, seeds of other high-quality crops are also available at the centre.

Important guidelines for seed booking:

After booking, farmers must collect their seeds from the Pusa Institute within 10 days.

Make sure to book the correct quantity of seeds, as cancellations are not allowed.

If the payment is successful but a receipt is not generated, avoid making duplicate payments.

By using these improved wheat varieties, farmers can increase their productivity and ensure better yield for the Rabi season.
