US sea imports from China drop sharply

Business Business: In May, the biggest decline of 28.5% was recorded in sea imports from China to the US compared to last year. This decline is due to the impact of the 145% tax imposed by US President Donald Trump. China is the largest sea importer of the US. Retailers depend on goods imported at these ports.
Total sea imports fell by 7.2% to 2.18 million TEU in May. Imports from China at west coast ports have particularly fallen sharply. Imports of furniture, plastic products, machinery, toys and sports goods have been affected.
