Roorkee (IANS) | The uproar over the death of a youth in Belda village of Roorkee’s Civil Line Kotwali area is not taking the name of stopping. On the previous day, angry people had pelted stones at the police, in which many policemen were injured. In view of the deteriorating situation, the administration has imposed Section 144 in the village. Along with this, a large number of police forces have been deployed in the village. Along with this, late night police have detained more than 50 people who created ruckus. Along with this, the police have also seized about 40 bikes. The body has been cremated this morning in the presence of the police. During this only a few people remained present.
In fact, on Sunday night, an employee working at a tent shop on his way back from Roorkee died under suspicious circumstances. His body was found lying near a tractor trolley near the village. Family members and villagers are telling it a case of murder, for which the Kotwali was gheraoed from 8 am to 5 am on Monday by family members and villagers. During this, an attempt was also made to bring the dead body to the police station, but due to the activism of the police, the people returned, whereas in the evening, the mob ransacked the house of the accused party.
After which the police tried to disperse the crowd. During this, stones were also pelted at the police. In this stone-pelting, five policemen including two inspectors, a sub-inspector were injured, later the police fired tear gas and dispersed the crowd. Whereas in view of the uproar in the village, the administration imposed section 144.
Police have detained 50 people who pelted stones and created ruckus late on Monday night. Along with this, 40 bikes have also been seized from the village. The body was cremated this morning in the presence of the police. At present, there is a ban on the entry of any outsider in the village.
Haridwar SSP Ajay Singh says that those who spoil the environment will be dealt with strictly.
