Uttar Pradesh: In a tragic road accident, a speeding tractor-trolley ran over a grandfather and his four-year-old grandson, who were riding a motorcycle, killing both on the spot. The incident occurred near the vegetable market in the Khudaganj area; the driver fled the scene with the tractor-trolley immediately after the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Budhpal and his four-year-old grandson, Asmit. The accident caused panic in the area, and locals gathered at the scene.
According to reports, Sarvesh, a resident of Dateli village, works in Rudrapur. He was returning home on Saturday night. Upon reaching Khudaganj, he called his father, Budhpal, explaining that he could not find any transport and asked him to come pick him up on the motorcycle. Acting on this information, Budhpal set out from home on his motorcycle, accompanied by his grandson, Asmit.
As they reached the vegetable market, a speeding tractor-trolley rammed into their motorcycle with great force. The impact caused Budhpal and Asmit to fall onto the road. Eyewitnesses stated that instead of braking, the driver accelerated, causing both victims to be crushed beneath the vehicle.
The driver fled the scene with the vehicle after the accident. Locals shouted and chased the tractor-trolley but were unable to catch it. The incident sparked anger and outrage in the area.
Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, took possession of the bodies, and sent them for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and the police have launched a search for the absconding tractor driver. Roadblocks have been set up in surrounding areas in an effort to identify and locate the vehicle and the driver.
The accident has plunged the entire region into mourning. The family members are inconsolable. Villagers have demanded that the administration arrest the accused driver immediately and take strict action to prevent such incidents in the future.
Police officials stated that the matter is being investigated seriously and the accused will be apprehended soon.
