UP News: 7 and 8 year old children died due to coal fire, parents found unconscious

Lakhimpur Kheri: Two children died of suffocation after lighting a coal fire in their room while sleeping to beat the cold and their parents have been admitted to hospital, police here on Tuesday said. The incident took place in Mailani town on Monday night, he said, adding that there was no ventilation in the room. The victims were identified as Ramesh Vishwakarma, his wife Renu, their daughter Anshika (8) and their son Krishna (7). Police officials said Ramesh’s sister-in-law Uma Devi called at their door on Tuesday morning but got no response, so they reached the door and found all four unconscious. They were taken to the emergency department of Mailani Health Centre, where Anshika and Krishna were declared dead, while Ramesh and Renu were shifted to Kheri District Hospital. Mailani Commissionerate chief Pankaj Tripathi said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
