UP: Man stages kidnapping, demands Rs 60 lakh ransom from family to pay off debt
Gonda: A trader, whose family suspected he had been abducted for a ransom of Rs 60 lakh, had allegedly staged his kidnapping to pay off his debts, police said on Saturday. According to police, Arjun Kumar (35), a flower trader from Basehiya village, reached Colonelganj market on Wednesday evening but did not return home. His family filed a missing person complaint and teams were deployed to search for him. Police said that on Thursday, Kumar’s brother Rakesh received a call claiming the trader had been abducted and a ransom of Rs 60 lakh was demanded.
