Vijayawada: Dr Apurva Chandra, Secretary, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday visited AIIMS Mangalagiri and chaired the 10th Standing Finance Committee meeting of the institute. After the meeting, the Secretary launched several new services at the institute. The Health Secretary inaugurated the Jan Aushadhi Kendra, where generic medicines are distributed at affordable rates for the benefit of patients and critically ill. The state-of-the-art CCU has advanced medical equipment and 20 beds. He also inaugurated the second MRI and Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) Lab, second 3Tesla MRI machine to reduce the waiting time of patients for MRI and DSDSLab to introduce minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures. The Secretary launched the AIIMS Mangalagiri Smart Card e-payment system for real-time patient/user transactions for patient care services at AIIMS Mangalagiri.
