Bhubaneswar: Thousands of uniformed women have gathered together and staged a protest at Lower PMG square in Bhubaneswar today. The women of All Odisha GPLF Mission Shakti workers and Biju Shramik Samukhya Sangha have called a protest over non-payment of salary.
According to the information, the women protestors of as many as six cadres including the MBK, Bank mitras, LSP, CRP, Krushi Mitra and Prani mitras were agitated as they had not received the salary from the past nine months. Despite their repeated efforts and petitions the Odisha government had failed to pay their salaries for the last nine months. Finding no other solution they have called a protest today.
“We were appointed by the Naveen Pattnaik government in Odisha and were receiving our salary regularly. During the General elections of 2024 and even after that, the new Odisha government has not given us our remuneration. Despite our repeated requests we did not receive any money. We are working like daily-wage labourers,” said an protestant.
The women have assembled in thousands from Lower PMG square and up to Master Canteen here. The President of Biju Shramik Samukhya Sangha Prafulla Samal and the Mayor of Cuttack Subhash Singh have reached the spot.
