Umesh Pal murder case: Arrested for helping Atiq’s son Asad

New Delhi (IANS) | Asad, the son of gangster Atiq Ahmed, who is lodged in a jail in Uttar Pradesh, had come to Delhi after the murder of Umesh Pal, the key witness in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case. The Special Cell of Delhi Police has detained three people in this connection. A police source said, Asad came to Delhi’s Sangam Vihar where he stayed at his associate’s house for about 15 days. The police identified the owner of the house as Javed. The police identified three of his associates who helped him hide in Delhi.

During his stay in Delhi, Asad sent one of his associates to Meerut. His associate collected the money in Meerut and returned to Delhi to hand over the cash to him.

The source said that an old driver of Atiq Ahmed lives in Delhi and it was he who helped Asad get the money from Meerut.

Uttar Pradesh is in touch with STF Special Cell. They are conducting raids in NCR to find out who was helping Assad. The three people who have been detained by the Special Cell in Delhi are currently being interrogated.

Asad is wanted in the firing incident on February 24 this year in which Umesh Pal was killed.
