Ukraine’s culture and tourism lost $19.6 billion due to war: PM

Kiev: Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia has caused losses to the country’s cultural and tourism sectors worth at least $19.6 billion. Prime Minister Dennis Shimhal said this. Shmyhal said on Thursday that 900 historical and cultural sites in Ukraine were destroyed or damaged during the war, Xinhua news agency reported. Kiev plans to create a special register of destroyed cultural and tourist centres, he said. On the basis of this, compensation will be demanded from Russia. According to him, Ukraine needs $8.9 billion to restore cultural and tourist sites.
