Maharashtra | A case has been registered against about 15 leaders of the Uddhav Thackeray group, including former minister Anil Parab, for assaulting an officer of BMC i.e. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader is alleging that the BMC engineer unilaterally demolished their branch. Here, BMC officials raised the demand for the arrest of the accused in the case and have warned to stop the work if this does not happen.
It is reported that the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader had come to meet Assistant Commissioner Swapnaja Kshirsagar regarding the complaint of contaminated water in some areas of Bandra East. During the morcha, the issue of breaking the branch on behalf of Assistant Engineer Ajay Patil also arose amid the ongoing debate between the Kshirsagar and Uddhav factions. When the leaders recognized the officer, they started slapping him. Sources are being quoted as saying that Parab had also asked who was the engineer who broke the branch, after which the officer was attacked.
MLC Parab says, ‘Patil only took action against our branch and broke it. He did not take action against even a single illegal wing of Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde. There were statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and our founder Balasaheb Thackeray in our branch.
He further said, “We asked the team to allow us to remove the idols, but they started the process of breaking them. Our people got angry with this and could not bear the insult to the ideals. Our Shiv Sainiks slapped Patil. We take responsibility for the attack. Now the police have started arresting our people.
Parab says that he reached Golibar slum, Gandhi Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Maharashtra Nagar and Dnyaneshwar Nagar to discuss the issue of contaminated water, but during the discussion the issue of demolition of shakha came up.
It is seen in the video that BMC guards barely took Patil out amid the scuffle. Kshirsagar had also left the room as soon as the attack started. Police JC (Law and Order) Satyanarayana said, “We will take strict action in this matter. We are in the process of filing an FIR.
A Deputy Commissioner of BMC told that Shiv Sena wanted to give a message to UBT that we should stay away from their illegal shakhas, else the officials would be attacked. He said that Assistant Commissioner Kshirsagar should not have allowed so many people to enter the cabin at one time. He said that the H East ward office should have also called the local police to avoid any untoward incident.
Shivsena spokesperson Sheetal Mhatre said, ‘Why are they doing politics on Balasaheb’s picture. We had put up Balasaheb’s picture in the assembly. They targeted the engineer for breaking Balasaheb’s photo. What about the Shiv Sena (UBT) members who kept Balasaheb’s views in check. This government believes in law and action will be taken. Sainath Rajadhyaksha, working president of BMC’s Engineer Union, says that the attacker should be arrested immediately, otherwise we will stop the services.
