Jagdalpur. A woman living in Bhanpuri Police Station area was duped of Rs 4 lakh through different means by posing as a Pakistani customs officer by luring her with a reward, after which the woman complained about the matter to the police, where the police have arrested 2 accused from Bihar.
The police said that the applicant Fulmani Nag, resident of Madhota Dogrigudapara Bhanpuri police station, told that on the night of April 11, 2024, at 9 pm, an unknown person told on the phone that he was speaking from Canada and also cheated her of Rs 4 lakh 93 thousand 200 through different means on Phone Pay by luring her to send an iPhone and ten lakh rupees in parcel. On registering the report of the case, a case was registered in Bhanpuri police station on April 11 under section 420 IPC. 66 (D) IT Act and taken into investigation. In this case, a team was formed by Inspector Shivanand Singh, where the police surrounded and caught the accused. Upon questioning, the accused revealed their names as Sumit Kumar of Bihar and the other accused Aniket Kumar is a resident of Bihar. The accused accepted that they had defrauded the applicant of Rs. 4,93,200.
The police confiscated 2 Android mobiles, 3 SIM cards, 1 passbook of Maharashtra Bank, as well as documents related to SIM cards of companies from the accused.
