Two police officers clash over a dowry case at Jajpur police station; both transferred.

Jajpur: Two police officers in Jajpur, Odisha, have been transferred to the district police headquarters after they were involved in a fight inside a police station, an official said.

Superintendent of Police Yash Pratap Shrimal transferred Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Debasish Satpathy and Assistant Sub-Inspector Prakash Kumar Singh of Alakund police station after they were involved in a fight over a closure report of a dowry case inside the police station on Thursday, the official said. According to reports, Satpathy had asked Singh to prepare the closure report for a dowry case filed by a woman from Basudevpur village.

When the IIC asked the ASI to submit the report, he allegedly responded rudely. This led to an argument between the two, which escalated into a fight inside the police station. The IIC allegedly assaulted the ASI in front of other police personnel inside the police station.

The SP said, “I have transferred both the IIC and the ASI to the district police headquarters and have asked Jajpur SDPO Prashant Kumar Majhi to investigate the incident and submit a report. Necessary action will be taken after receiving the investigation report.”
