Two people have been arrested on charges of drugging and robbing a woman.

Hyderabad: Abdullapurmet police arrested two men and recovered a four-tola gold chain stolen from a 71-year-old woman, E. Mangamma, in Kothagudem.

According to the complaint filed by her family, two men came to Mangamma’s house and gave her something to drink. After consuming it, she fell asleep. When her family returned, they discovered that the gold chain she was wearing was missing.

Acting on reliable information, the police arrested G. Harish, a 25-year-old driver from Thippaigudem in Manchal mandal, and Venkatesh, a 55-year-old farmer. The stolen chain was reportedly recovered from them. Police said an investigation is underway to determine if the two were involved in other similar crimes. BJP chief remembers Netaji’s sacrifices

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao described Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose as a lasting inspiration for Indian youth, highlighting his sacrifices, determination, and patriotism during the Parakram Diwas celebrations on the occasion of the freedom fighter’s 129th birth anniversary.

Speaking after unveiling a statue of Netaji and paying floral tributes in Kukatpally, Rao emphasized the need to study Bose’s life and ideals to strengthen national service. He described Bose as a prominent leader of the freedom movement who organized the youth and led the Azad Hind Fauj’s military campaign for independence. Recalling key historical moments, Rao said that on December 30, 1943, Bose hoisted the tricolor flag in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, declaring Indian independence and becoming a symbol of eternal courage.

Later, Rao garlanded a portrait of Netaji at the state BJP office, where senior party leaders and workers also paid their respects. Rs 78,000 stolen from grocery store

Hyderabad: Unidentified persons stole Rs 78,000 in cash from a grocery store in Kuntloor after it was closed on Thursday night, Hayathnagar police said.
Kengiri Mallesh’s shop was found burgled on Friday morning when his son Pawan went there at around 4:40 am and noticed a window open. He informed his father, who found that Rs 78,000 kept in the counter was missing. Upon reviewing CCTV footage, the family spotted a woman from the same locality leaving the shop. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Hyderabad: A digital light nameplate on a welcome arch at Haritha Y Junction in Medaram, Mulugu district, fell on Friday afternoon at around 12 pm, injuring a devotee. He sustained minor injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital.

The incident occurred on the road leading from Jampanna Vagu to Gaddelu (the altar), a major pilgrimage route, while preparations are underway for the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, which begins on January 28.

Amid allegations of negligence and inadequate safety measures, police have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse. Mulugu district SP K. Sudhir Ramnath is reviewing CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
