In this sequence, the Janjgir police station has arrested two accused with 100 liters of illegal raw Mahua liquor by conducting a raid on the information of the informer. A case has been duly registered against the accused under section 34 (2) of the Excise Act and they have been produced in the court and sent on judicial remand. A special campaign is being run to stop illegal liquor sale under the direction of District Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Pandey (IPS). Under this campaign, effective action is being continuously taken by the Janjgir police station under the able guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Umesh Kumar Kashyap and the leadership of CSP Janjgir Mrs. Kavita Thakur. Based on the information received by the police team, raids were conducted in village Banari Sabriya Dera and illegal liquor was seized from two different places.
Police said that 60 liters of illegal raw mahua liquor was recovered from the possession of accused Krishna God (age 23 years), while 40 liters of illegal liquor was seized from the possession of accused Gopal God (age 35 years). The total quantity of liquor seized was 100 liters, whose estimated value is Rs 20,000. Police arrested both the accused on the spot and started further action. A case was registered against the accused under Section 34 (2) of the Excise Act and presented in the court. Police said that the illegal liquor business increases the tendency of addiction in the society, which gives rise to problems like crime and social insecurity. In such a situation, a special campaign is being run to control illegal liquor in the district. Police say that illegal liquor manufacturing, transportation and sale will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
This action has created panic among those selling illegal liquor in the surrounding areas. Police have also appealed to the villagers for cooperation so that illegal trade can be curbed. The police also said that awareness campaigns will also be run to avoid accidents and crimes caused by drug abuse. Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Pandey said that maintaining law and order in the district is a priority. He appealed to the public to immediately inform the police if they are aware of any illegal activity. Such action will bring positive change in the society and control over crime will be possible.
