CHENNAI/BENGALURU Chennai/Bengaluru: TVS Motor Company (TVSM) will set up a Global Capability Centre in Karnataka, expand its production and engineering capabilities in Mysore, build a test track and set up new company office infrastructure in the state.
Sudarshan Venu, MD, TVSM outlined the company’s plan at the inaugural ceremony of the Global Investors Meet (GIM), Invest Karnataka 2025. The company signed an MoU with the Karnataka government to invest Rs 2,000 crore in the state over the next 5 years.
Sudarshan Venu said, “We envision a capability centre that will attract top talent and great ideas, and have research capabilities to become the birthplace of next-generation bikes. The office and associated infrastructure will bring together engineers, designers, innovators, AI and ML experts, who will determine what’s next! Karnataka is a place where great ideas thrive and we are excited to expand our footprint in the state.”
He said, “TVS Motor has become the fourth largest two-wheeler company in the world, with 58 million users globally – an achievement that would not have been possible without the guidance of stakeholders in the government.” TVS operates a manufacturing facility in Mysore, which employs over 3,500 people and has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million vehicles. Two-wheelers manufactured at the Mysore factory meet domestic demand and are also exported. Export revenues alone from the factory are over Rs 1,200 crore, taking the total to over Rs 7,600 crore. The company will aim to double its exports and overall revenues from its Mysore operations. The company operates two other factories in India – one spread over 300 acres in Hosur, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, and the other in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh.
