TVK Chief Vijay to contest from two seats

As the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections approach, political equations are becoming interesting. Actor Vijay’s ‘Tamilga Vetri Kalagam (TVK)’ party has taken a sensational decision. It has announced that it will contest alone in all 234 constituencies in the elections to be held on April 23. Party leader Vijay himself is contesting from two seats.

Vijay will file his nomination under his full name ‘C. Joseph Vijay’. He will contest from the Tiruchirappalli East constituencies in Tamil Nadu, between Perambur in Chennai. Describing his candidates as ‘Makkal Kappalargal’, Vijay said that they are not politicians but people. He expressed confidence that the main fight in this election will be between his party and the DMK alliance.

Party general secretary Bussi Anand will contest from T Nagar in Chennai, while campaign leader Aadav Arjuna will contest from Villivakkam. Former minister KA Sengottaiyan is in the fray from Gobichettipalayam. On this occasion, Vijay announced several key promises. He promised to make Tamil Nadu a drug-free state, provide monthly financial assistance to unemployed youth under 29 years, introduce a special law for transparency in government recruitment, and provide unsecured loans of up to Rs. 20 lakh to students. Vijay’s decision has increased political heat in the DMK and AIADMK alliances, while the acceptance of nominations will begin from March 30.
