Maharashtra: On the day of Dussehra in Tuljapur, the Devi’s procession in Simolangan is at the forefront of the procession of Meri Muhurta Devi from Karjat. Today these sticks left for Tuljapur on the fifth day of the Mala. A large number of devotees were present on this occasion. Meri Muhurta Devi is a famous and awakened temple in Karjat. 400 years ago, a little girl came to Genuji Teli’s house. She stayed in his house for many years. No one came to ask about her. Genuji Teli took care of her like a daughter. As soon as this girl came home at the auspicious time, Ladane called her Muhurta, but after getting up, after fixing her marriage, the girl told that I am not an ordinary girl, but an incarnation of the goddess of Tuljapur.
And after giving darshan to everyone, she went inside. Not only this, she invited Genuchi Teli to come to Tuljapur. Since then this Mai Muhurta Devi is given a leading place in the temple procession on the day of Dussehra. Such a legend is told. There is a 400-year-old tradition of taking these sticks to Tuljapur on the fifth day. After leaving for Tuljapur on foot, they reach Tuljapur with the goddess on Navami. After this, the collector comes to welcome them and takes the goddess to the temple with pomp and show. After this, on Dashami i.e. Dussehra, when the goddess comes out of the temple for procession and parikrama, this goddess of Karjat is given the first place in the procession.
The sticks of Mayamurtaba Devi left for Tuljapur today on the fifth day. On this occasion, Baban Kshirsagar and other dignitaries and a large number of devotees were present. After performing the aarti of the goddess, the goddess is taken to Tuljapur dancing and singing. At this time a large number of devotees gather for darshan. This tradition continues even today.
