US President Donald Trump has made another shocking announcement. He has threatened to impose heavy tariffs on France. It is known that France refused to join the ‘Board of Peace’ proposed by him for the reconstruction of Gaza. Trump, who was angry about this, dropped a tariff bomb on the order.
He threatened to impose a 200 percent tariff on wine and champagne imported from France to the United States. Then he commented that French President Emmanuel Macron would definitely come along and join the Board of Peace. He posted this to his own social media platform Truth. Moreover, Trump also shared a private message he received from Macron regarding Greenland in the Truth post.
The US has set up a ‘Board of Peace’ with the aim of ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza and advancing the peace process. This board will monitor the situation in Gaza, coordinate humanitarian assistance, reconstruction, and conflict prevention measures. Trump has offered to join it to several countries, including India. However, there has been no official response from India on this proposal so far. Analysts believe that if India is part of this initiative, its role in the peace process in West Asia could be further strengthened. Now, France has expressed its reluctance to join this board, which is angering Trump.
