Akaltara. A speeding truck laden with paddy hit and crushed a villager walking on the roadside on NH 49. The villager died on the spot in the accident. Angered by the incident, the villagers blocked the road. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and after giving advice to the villagers, the body was sent to Akaltara Hospital for post mortem. The incident took place near Anandam Dham of Amartal village of Akaltara police station. According to the information, at around 7:30 pm on Saturday night, Sudhir Kurre (40), father of Dilip Kurre, resident of Tilai, was going from Amartal towards his village Tilai. Meanwhile, truck number CG 04 JA 3274 was going towards Janjgir after loading paddy from behind.
Sudhir Kurre had reached near Anandam Dham of Amartal when a speeding truck hit him and crushed him. He died on the spot in the accident. A crowd of villagers gathered on the spot and relatives also reached there. Angered by the incident, the villagers started blocking the road. On receiving the information, Akaltara police reached the spot with force and after giving advice to the villagers and relatives, the blockade was ended. After half an hour of discussion the atmosphere calmed down. By then there were queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. The police sent the body to the PM. The body was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem on Sunday. After the accident the truck driver fled from the spot. The police have taken the truck into their custody and are investigating the matter.
