Tripura: Two arrested with weapons and drugs at Agartala station

Agartala: The GRP unit of the Tripura Police arrested two men from Bihar at the Agartala railway station on Sunday and seized a country-made gun and two live rounds from them.
Along with the gun, the police also seized 100 bottles of banned cough syrup.
Police officials stated that a case has been registered against both accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. The operation was carried out based on inputs received from the Special Branch.
Informing the media about the operation, DIG Rati Ranjan Debnath said, “Acting on reliable intelligence input, the Government Railway Police conducted this operation. The two accused were arrested from the Rani Kamlapati Express. The gun seized from them appears to be a country-made gun. Two live rounds were also recovered. All the seized material will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to determine the type of gun.”
He also said that an investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward links of the two accused. He added, “We are investigating their route and the possible destinations of the drugs.”
According to Debnath, GRP, RPF, and Special Branch officials have increased surveillance on railway routes and express trains.
