Tripura News: Khelo Tripura Para Games-2023 begins

Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha said on Friday that the Central and State Governments are playing an important role in the upliftment and establishment of respect for the disabled. Dr. Saha said this today during the inauguration of Khelo Tripura Para Games-2023 at Swami Vivekananda Ground in Agartala, in which persons with disabilities were included for the first time. “Now there is no difference between normal people and disabled people. Persons with disabilities are equally capable of developing talent and establishing themselves. If they are provided with the right opportunity they can demonstrate their status in the society. The present central and state governments are playing a leading role in the upliftment and dignity of persons with disabilities,” said Dr Saha. The Chief Minister said that at present, disabled children (Divyangjan) in the state are showcasing their talent in various fields and are receiving recognition and awards in education and sports at the state and international levels. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister emphasized that after the formation of the new government at the Center under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, proper recognition and status was given to the disabled people. He also gave the credit of the word ‘Divyangjan’ to the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dr. Saha said that about 36 thousand persons have been registered in the disabled list in the state and more than 15 thousand disabled persons are being provided a monthly pension of Rs 2,000. During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Saha also announced the launch of Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra and Good Governance 2.0 campaign, which aims to ensure delivery of government benefits to every individual of the society. “The aim of the present central and state governments is to provide opportunities and facilities to the people. This government is committed to upholding the rights of the people.” Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar and others were present.
