Tripura: Police have successfully conducted an anti-drug drive, recovering around 35 bags of Escuf cough syrup from a vacant house at Khakchang residential complex adjoining Auxilium HS School at Nandannagar on the outskirts of Agartala city. The drive was carried out on Wednesday night and the market value of the seized cough syrup has been estimated to be around Rs 12 lakh. Giving details of the incident, SDPO Subrata Barman said, “The construction work of a building adjoining Auxilium HS School at Nandannagar near Khakchang residential complex was halted for several days. Last night, locals saw several youths loading various items into a car at the site. Their behaviour aroused suspicion among the residents, who then informed the NCC and GB outposts.”
On receiving information, police immediately reached the spot and recovered 35 bags of Escuf cough syrup inside a vacant house. “The market value of the seized cough syrup is around Rs 12 lakh,” SDPO Barman confirmed. Despite the successful seizure, no arrest has been made in connection with the incident. SDPO Barman said, “The police have started investigating the case.” He stressed that efforts are ongoing to nab those involved in the illegal activity.
