A 32-year-old man from Fakir Galli in the vicinity of Mangor Hill who had been diagnosed with malaria and treated for it at the Chicalim sub-district hospital died in his sleep at home on the day of his discharge from a hospital. Locals have alleged negligence on the part of the hospital.
Sources said that Ninga Pujari was admitted to the Sub-District Hospital where he underwent treatment for four days and after his health improved he was discharged late Tuesday night.
Pujari went to sleep after dinner. While his family checked on him around 11 pm he did not respond. His brother immediately took him to a private hospital in Chicalim where he was declared brought dead.
Sources at the sub-district hospital said that he was twice checked for dengue but the tests came negative and his malaria test had come positive for which treatment was given.Pujari was a taxi driver by profession and was well-known in his locality.
