Training workshop on sensitization concluded, officials of food and weights department participated

Raipur. Bureau of Indian Standards, Raipur organized a one-day training workshop on the subject of sensitization. The program was chaired by Reena Babasaheb Kangale, Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department. Officials of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection and Metrology Department associated with the department participated in the workshop. Director and Head of Bureau of Indian Standards, Raipur Branch Office, S.K. Gupta gave detailed information to the Secretary about the objectives and format of the training program. After this, Joint Director of Raipur Branch Office, Falendra Kumar introduced various activities of Bureau of Indian Standards through a power point presentation.

The presentation specifically gave information about the process of standard setting, structure of committees, invitation of suggestions and comments on draft standards, and wide circulation draft for public participation.

Detailed information about various certification programs like ISI Mark Scheme, CRS Scheme for Electronic Products was given in the workshop. Along with this, mandatory certification orders for products with ISI Mark and CRS Mark and their identification methods were highlighted. The process of searching and downloading standards on the BIS website was presented to the officials through the “Know Your Standards” feature. Along with this, the process of compliance of QCO (Quality Control Order) and certification inspection while preparing tenders in departmental purchasing processes was also explained in detail.

It was also told in the workshop that which certified laboratories are available in the state for product testing for the tender process. Information was also provided about the process of checking the authenticity of hallmark and HUID number on gold and silver jewellery, mandatory hallmarking order, availability of hallmarking centres, process of hallmarking and online testing facility for consumers. A collection of standards was demonstrated in the workshop and the utility of “Standards Watch” was made known. Along with this, information was also given on the educational participation of BIS in the educational field through Standards Club and MOU Partnership Model. At the end of the workshop, a question-answer session was organized, in which the questions of the officers present were resolved and satisfactory answers were provided.
